About the studio

If you’re expecting another barre workout, think again. Xtend Barre is a body-enhancing addiction made up of an elegant yet energetic combination of Pilates, dance and ballet moves. We are a fun, sweaty and challenging workout. Try your first class for just $20 and see for yourself. After your first class choose a new client special: 2 weeks unlimited for $89 or 7 classes for $149.

Our beautiful, bright and spacious studio has 3 sunny classrooms and hosts over 55 classes per week, including specialty classes for the pre and post-natal population, as well as babysitting services during select class times. We are ideally and conveniently located in Brooklyn Heights, adjacent to the Borough Hall subway station where you can catch the 2/3/4/5 & R trains, and just a few blocks away from the A/C & F trains at Jay Street.

Before Your First Class…

New clients must fill out their liability waiver form before their first class. Grippy socks are required. Feel free to bring your own or buy a pair from us. Don't be late. If you’re more than 10 minutes late, we can’t let you into the class. No mobile phones permitted in the studio. Please inform your instructor if you are pre/post-natal or have any pre-existing medical conditions. If you need to cancel your reservation, please note your studio’s cancellation policy in order to avoid being charged a late fee. You may cancel online or by using the Xtend Barre app. Email and phone cancellations are not accepted.

Meet our instructors

Kristine Storie

Kristine is a Brooklyn native and former Finance geek turned fitness buff. She discovered Xtend Barre in 2010 and knew immediately that it was her golden ticket out of the corporate world. She is a certified Balanced Body Pilates instructor, holds a B.S. in Business from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from Stanford University. Kristine’s classes are jam packed with lots of cardio and replete with detailed alignment cues to help her students better understand the movements.

Amber Nalle

Amber was born and raised in Massachusetts, and has been dancing since the young age of 4. She has performed as a soloist in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Massachusetts and NYC, including Lincoln Center. Although now retired from professional dancing, she continues to share her love of ballet and dance through teaching and choreography. Amber teaches an intense and challenging class, sprinkled with a bit of humor to help carry you through the workout.

Amanda Jenny

Originally from New Jersey, Amanda has been dancing since the young age of three and has experience teaching various different modalities of dance and fitness. She holds a BFA in Dance from the Boston Conservatory and is a Balanced Body Pilates mat instructor. Her bright and sunny personality is a welcome distraction from the intensity of the workout. Amanda loves to work the booty, so expect a lot of seat work in her classes.

Nicole Calabrese

Nicole has been dancing since the age of 4 and holds a B.F.A. in Dance and a minor in Marketing from SUNY University at Buffalo. She has been teaching, choreographing and performing ever since (including stints in Vegas, China and on Carnival Cruise Lines) and is currently a member and co-managing director of Mint Dance Company. Nicole delivers a well-rounded and fun class that draws upon her eclectic background and her passion for music, fitness, and mind body wellness.

Laura Winelander

Laura grew up in Baltimore, MD studying dance, choreography, theater and gymnastics. She is a comprehensively trained, PMA certified Pilates instructor and was immediately drawn to Xtend’s take on barre due to its Pilates foundation and the dance-like quality of the workout.  Laura is a tough, honest and attentive instructor with an eagle eye and a flair for witty quips that will have you laughing throughout class.

Susan LoPiccolo

Susan, a native Long Islander, has had a passion for ballet since she was a young girl. She is a certified AFAA group fitness instructor and teaches classes in Insanity and Cardio Sport.  Susan has trained with Shaun T. since 2012 and is a cast member in various Focus T25 videos. Don’t be fooled by Susan’s soft-spoken personality…once class starts it is game on! Susan is truly an inspiration and is the absolute embodiment of health, wellness and positivity.

Chelsea Escher

Chelsea is originally from a small town in New Hampshire.  Here in NYC, she works as a contemporary dancer and fitness instructor, and also dabbles in a cabaret/burlesque!  She has a double degree in Dance & Performance Studies and PR from Roger Williams University. Outside of dancing and teaching, Chelsea enjoys playing old-school arcade games, crafting, and antiquing. Chelsea is a spunky, upbeat, energetic instructor who will lead you through class with a commanding but supportive energy that will push you to want to do your best.

Rochelle Baca

Rochelle is originally from upstate New York and fell in love with mind body exercise disciplines while pursuing her undergraduate degree at Syracuse University. This passion eventually led her to pursue a career in fitness. This braniac also holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University, where she studied breast cancer research. She is a Power Pilates certified mat instructor. Rochelle teaches a strong, intense, athletic class … you will feel the burn!

Jaimie Salkovitch

Originally from Cleveland, Jaimie came to NYC after receiving her BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University. She also holds a Masters in Childhood Special Education from Fordham University and currently works as a special education teacher in Brooklyn. Additionally, Jaimie holds a 200-hour yoga teacher certification. Jaimie brings her fun and peppy personality to the barre, where she pays close attention to alignment, breath, good music, and most importantly, having fun.

Kelsey Thompson

Kelsey hails from Texas Hill Country and has had a lifelong love of dance. Before relocating to NYC to attend college in 2015, Kelsey danced professionally, performing in over 10 countries. Here in NY, she is pursuing her undergraduate degree, performing part-time with a dance company, and (as of Aug 2016) teaching at Xtend Barre in Brooklyn! Though a resident of the Big Apple, Kelsey still holds onto her small-town, Texas roots and exudes a sweet, southern charm. You may hear an occasional “y’all” as she motivates you in class!

Hannah Flam

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Hannah moved to NYC in 2016 to pursue a career in musical theater after earning a BFA in musical theater performance from The University of Michigan.  She’s a Balanced Body certified Pilates instructor and has fallen madly in love with Xtend Barre. Standing at 6′ tall, Hannah is a vivacious, positive and encouraging instructor with a strong presence and a warm and welcoming energy.

Juliette Salgado

Born in northern California and raised in the French countryside, Juliette made the big move to NYC in 2013 to fulfill a lifelong dream of living in the Big Apple.  She is a certified Pilates mat instructor and a trained dancer, hence her love for Xtend which draws from both disciplines.  Jules loves tacos, peanut butter and is a huge music junkie.  Despite her refreshingly chill personality and laid-back demeanor, Jules delivers a strong, solid, challenging and well-balanced class.

Jordan Owashi

Jordan grew up dancing from age two and hasn’t let her feet stop moving since. She discovered Xtend Barre through an childhood dance teacher, found it fulfilled her love for dance and was the most fun workout she’d ever tried! A SoCal gal at heart, she moved from San Diego in 2015 and found her way to the big city to work in the field of Public Relations. She’s so excited and grateful to have the opportunity to share her passion for Xtend Barre from coast to coast!
