Kelly came to her first Pilates class in 2007, tired of her usual routine of cardio and weights at the gym. She was instantly hooked. Three years later, Kelly opened her own Pilates studio Fuel Pilates in Georgetown DC—fulfilling her dream of getting from out behind a computer and creating a space where people can challenge themselves physically and mentally, yet are still able to laugh and enjoy themselves. Kelly’s classes are energetic, fun, yet challenging. She’ll work you out hard while cheering you on. She’ll encourage you to push yourself and be a stronger version of yourself tomorrow. Kelly received her initial pilates mat certification from Power Pilates of New York City. She then completed the BASI Comprehensive Course (Body Arts and Science International) which qualifies her to teach mat, reformer, cadillac, chair and other apparatus. She also completed a pre/post-natal certification with Carolyne Anthony—the industry’s expert on the subject— from The Center of Women’s Fitness and BASI.
In September of 2010, Kelly brought the Xtend Barre method to Fuel Pilates & DC, and then added Xtend Barre DC in Novemeber of 2012. When Kelly is not working at the studio, she enjoys traveling with her husband. But, ironically, whenever she’s on the road, she tries to find pilates wherever she is. Over the years she’s done pilates at the Pilates Center of Boulder, Colorado, the home of Xtend Barre in Boca Raton, Florida, visited Xtend Barre Nashville, as well as Lake Tahoe, California, Aspen, Steamboat Springs, England, Spain, France and even Bermuda!

Marti discovered Xtend Barre in 2010 thanks to her daughter (and Xtend Barre instructor Hayley Jackson), as well as Kelly Griffith’s fabulous Fuel Pilates studio. Nearing the end of her career as a middle school principal, Marti found the perfect fitness method and studio with Xtend Barre at Fuel Pilates. Marti was hooked on this unique barre method after just a few challenging classes. And, with the encouragement of her daughter and Kelly, Marti achieved her lofty goal – certified Xtend Barre instructor. “I believe in this head to toe strength and aerobic fitness method. We have tons of fun Xtending ourselves in all directions! I can’t count the number of times I’ve been asked how I stay fit; it’s Xtend Barre. I’m eager to share this fabulous work out with my students!”
Melissa started taking barre classes nearly three years ago in association with her fitness blog, Burn it Off D.C. She fell in love with the Xtend methodology and now she’s a certified Xtend instructor. Melissa spent much of her youth in ballet and jazz dance classes, and was a competitive cheerleader and dance team member. Xtend allows her to share the passion for dance she’s had her entire life and with others. She is an avid runner and completed the New York City Marathon, Marine Corps Marathon and dozens of half marathons. She believes that the full-body sculpt offered by Xtend is the perfect complement to running and recommends Xtend to runners for this reason.
