South African born Cat trained at The Australian Ballet School and enjoyed an 11 year dance career with The Australian Ballet and Royal New Zealand Ballet. She is a certified Pilates mat and equipment instructor, New Zealand’s only Melt Method instructor and NZ’s Xtend Barre Instructor Trainer. Introduced to Xtend Barre in early 2013, Cat found Xtend Barre to be graceful, choreographically interesting, challenging and accessible to all members of the population. Cat loves observing the positive improvements that Xtend Barre has on her clients’ bodies and minds.
Racheal has been dancing since she was a young girl in Christchurch. Starting with years of Ballet and Modern Jazz, she discovered partner dancing on moving to Wellington for University and went on to establish Full Swing, one of Wellingtons largest adult dance schools. While travelling in 2012 Racheal found Xtend Barre and loved it! After attending training in Melbourne later that same year, she was absolutely delighted to become New Zealand’s first Xtend Barre instructor and bring the comprehensive programme home to her clients. Her greatest enjoyment has been seeing complete beginners gain a sense of body awareness, strength and control all whilst shaping their bodies. “Dancing is one of the greatest joys of life, a freedom in connecting body, mind and soul that is accessible to everyone. Why would you chose to exercise any other way?”
Following years of professional dance training and performance in Melbourne, Emma’s passion and spirit remain prevalent in her teaching. Years of strenuous performance left her seeking a different style of movement allowing classical technique to merge with the uplifting atmosphere Xtend offers, ensuring hard work and fun go hand-in-hand! Within 6 months, Emma became certified in Xtend Barre, Stick, Antigravity® FUNdamentals 1+2 and Aerial Yoga 1. Having taught clientele from all walks of life, she aims for development from everyone at their own pace whilst pushing them to achieve their full potential. Emma is thrilled to celebrate the achievements of her students alongside them and watch their hard work pay off.
A bunhead of some 34 years, Bea’s passion for dance and performing began as a young child. After graduating from The National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art in 2001, she spent many years working as a freelance performer, teacher and director. Bea came to Cat’s Pilates class in 2012 having suffered from her fifth prolapse disc. Before long, the changes in her body were so significant, she knew this was what she needed to do with her life. She is proud to be New Zealand’s first instructor certified to teach Xtend Barre Stick, Xtend Suspend, Circuit 7, Fit Ball and Roll and Release. Bea qualified as a Comprehensive Pilates Instructor through Hearts and Bones in 2015. In 2016 she began her journey into defying gravity, and she’s excited to share this with our clients.
Hannah has loved dance from a young age and throughout her childhood attended Ballet and Jazz classes but stopped as a teenager. As a regular gym goer Hannah became bored of repetitive workouts and struggled with motivation. She discovered Xtend Barre in early 2014 and was hooked instantly. Hannah believes Xtend Barre is a fun and functional alternative to exercise and enjoys how energised classes make her feel. Hannah looks forward to inspiring and challenging new clients and to see the positive results they experience within their own bodies’
Liz has been an Xtend Barre instructor since 2014. Her emphasis has always been on cross-training; she also focuses on Circuit, Stick classes and TRX and loves helping people push themselves. Liz also is a performer with a BA Hons in Theatre, enjoys singing, screen and stage acting and also helps people embody themselves more effectively by practicing as a Craniosacral Therapist.
Stana has a long dance background as both a student and a teacher for 12 years. She loves seeing her clients xtend their limits and perceptions of what their bodies can do in and out of the studio. With a passion for pure joy and moving from a place of connect & love, Stana uses her dance knowledge and theatre training from University to motivate and inspire clients through a sense of play. She is currently a primary school teacher in Plimmerton and is loving learning more about mindfulness and the art of being present.
Victoria has been an enthusiastic xtend barre go-er since the middle of 2014 when she changed up her daily gym routine for a pair of pink barre socks and some funky playlists.
The variety of xtend barre classes along with the challenges at the barre saw Victoria learn about her body (mostly her core!) as she grew stronger with each class. You can see and hear Victoria’s love and passion for xtend barre whenever she talks about it, she will always be encouraging you to try something new, get out of your comfort zone and have some fun!
A former competitive gymnast and cheerleader, Kate has always had a passion for fitness and dance. She stumbled upon Xtend Barre on her first day in Wellington and has been hooked ever since. Tired of the monotonous exercise routine at a traditional gym, Kate was thrilled to find a fitness regime that was at once challenging, effective, and enjoyable. A high school French teacher by trade, Kate thrives on encouraging her students to find their passion and seeing them succeed. She looks forward to sharing her enthusiasm for Xtend Barre with her clients!
Melanie is a Colorado native and grew up with a passion for healthy, active living. She has been practicing yoga since 2004. After many years in a car driving as a pharmaceutical sales rep, she suffered lower back pain and discovered aerial yoga. Inversion helped her back tremendously. The practice also gave her increased flexibility and left her feeling less stressed, clear, and energized. Melanie is a certified AntiGravity Fundamentals and Aerial Yoga instructor. She hopes to guide her clients in realigning their bodies and centering their minds with AntiGravity at Xtend Barre OTT.
Having studied dance from a young age Frankie has looked for ways to exercise and explore movement in many different areas of life. She is always eager to find new and exciting ways to get moving. Having recently completed her Certificate in FUNdamentals 1 & 2 and Aerial Yoga 1 as part of the AntiGravity® programme alongside her previous teaching experience in contemporary dance, Frankie is excited to share her knowledge with clients who are keen to achieve their own personal fitness goals. When she isn’t flying the studio Frankie likes getting lost in a good book and perfecting her own technique in circus aerial skills.
Monica’s interest in fitness and well-being began when she started practicing yoga in 2008. Always looking for new ways to push herself physically, she began pole fitness in 2012 and found AntiGravity Fitness in 2016. ‘Combining my love for yoga and pole with running, aerials and hand balancing, AntiGravity Fitness is a fantastic new way for me to bring it together and share my passion with others through teaching.’
Elina has experienced first hand the tremendous positive impact yoga has on her life, body, mind and spirit – and Elina wants to share this with EVERYONE and EVERYBODY. Elina left her corporate job 3 years ago to teach yoga on beaches of Puerto Rico and has landed on Kiwi soil in August 2016. Elina’s teaching style is strong with a focus on alignment for an injury free practice. With a keen interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Elina incorporates the elements of TCM into her classes which include, hatha, power vinyasa, yin and restorative yoga. Besides yoga, Elina also teaches Antigravity fitness. She enjoys being inverted and the fun and thrills that can be injected into an Antigravity Fitness class. Most importantly, she believes that for most people, no matter at which fitness level can benefit from the decompression inversion.
