Xtend Barre Newbury Street is a boutique fitness studio located in Boston on the last block of Newbury Street above Trident Cafe and just a few steps away from the Hynes Convention Center T stop. We have almost 40 classes per week on our schedule including our signature Xtend Barre class, Xtend Suspend, Xtend Stick and Babies on Board. We are beyond thrilled to be named Boston’s Best Barre Studio of 2016 by Boston Magazine and we can’t wait to meet you at the barre!
Xtend Barre Newbury Street owner Amanda Cort discovered and fell in love with Xtend Barre in 2013 while living abroad in Sydney, Australia. Dancing since the young age of two, she was ecstatic to find a workout that incorporates her lifelong passions for dance, fitness and the performing arts. She knew immediately that she had to bring this amazing workout back to Boston and introduce Xtend Barre to her hometown. She is so thrilled to see her dream of building a beautiful studio in the Back Bay come true and can’t wait to Xtend with you!
At the age of 3, Andrea started dancing in her hometown of Cleveland, OH and continued dancing at Boston University as a member of its nationally ranked dance team. After graduating with a degree in Biomedical Engineering, she needed to find a way to keep in shape and found Xtend Barre. She loved how great of a workout she got while still connected to her dance roots. Andrea promises you will sweat every time and hopefully challenge yourself to do things you never thought were possible.
Sophie is trained in ballet, classical Indian dance, and ballroom/Latin, and performs ballet, aerials, and burlesque professionally in the Boston area. She loves teaching dance and fitness, and Xtend Barre is the perfect mix of both! When Sophie isn’t in the studio or onstage, she produces her own audio drama podcast, The Penumbra.
Ashley began dancing at the age of three, training and competing in many styles of dance before focusing seriously on ballet. She has more than 15 years of intensive training with Boston Ballet School, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, American Ballet Theater and The School for Classical and Contemporary Dance at Texas Christian University, where she earned her BFA in Classical Ballet. After spending 7 years training, dancing and teaching ballet in Texas, she relocated to Boston and immediately fell in love with Xtend Barre which perfectly fuses dance, Pilates and conditioning exercises into an engaging workout. Discovering Xtend gave Ashley the perfect chance to incorporate her love of dance into a workout routine and she can’t wait to share her passion with Xtend Barre Newbury Street!
Since the age of 3, Lauren has been dancing and continuously looking for new ways to challenge her strength and body. Lauren’s love and passion for the Xtend Barre methodology has stemmed from her life-long dance and fitness experience focusing on conditioning the body in a healthy, yet challenging way. She received a B.A. in Dance Performance with a double major in Global Communications at Roger Williams University before earning her M.A. in Global Marketing Communications & Advertising at Emerson College. While not in the studio teaching or taking class, Lauren also works as a Sales & Marketing Specialist. She can’t wait to meet you at the barre!
Erica’s love of dance began at an early age; she took modern and ballet classes throughout her childhood and served as a member of Axis Dance Co.(North Conway, NH) in high school. This passion evolved into taking part time classes throughout her undergraduate experience at the University of New Hampshire. Erica discovered Xtend Barre in 2016 after moving to Boston to explore the city and pursue graduate school. Erica feels Xtend Barre is unique in that every class is different; Xtend offers movements accessible to all that provide a full body workout. Erica enjoys working with people and empowering them to achieve their individual goals. When Erica is not at Xtend Barre, she works with children, youth and families in the Boston area.
Erin’s love for dance and gymnastics was developed at a young age. She always found joy in movement and would enroll in many classes and try different styles. During her teenage years she began competing in lyrical, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary. She continued her passion for dance throughout college; she was on her school’s dance team and performed at football and basketball games as well as competing at NDA nationals. Erin fell in love with Xtend Barre when she found it; she was excited that it incorporated ballet and pilates into an intense workout. In May of 2018 Erin will be graduating from Stonehill College with degrees in criminology and communications. She is excited to Xtend with you and meet you at the barre!
As a performer and theater artist, Sarah came to Xtend Barre searching for new ways to challenge and strengthen her body. She believes strongly in the power of movement, that everyone should have access to their bodies within their needs and abilities, and come to a place where they feel happy and powerful in their own skin. When she’s not at the barre, Sarah is a freelance artist and works regularly as a performer, director and educator in and around Boston.
Since the age of 4, Tara has had a love of dance and movement. Throughout her years she competed in local Dance competitions and as a young adult she could not go without dance. She minored in Dance Education at Bridgewater State and found Barre the winter of 2014 and became hooked following a Pilates certification that following spring. In 2017 She was introduced to Xtend Barre and fell even more in love! Within Tara`s classes one can find challenging material, fluid movement, laughter, fun, and the willingness to play. One of her favorite things about being able to share her passion is to witness the growth within clients from being stronger than they were the last class, to their success stories, to that moment at the end of class where they find peace, strength and a little more confidence. She cannot wait to meet you at the barre!
Susan is originally from New York and has been an Xtend Barre instructor since 2013 as well as a Registered Yoga Alliance Teacher, NASM Certified Personal Trainer, and the current Program Director at Regatta Fitness. She has experience working with top trainers and instructors to design fitness and yoga videos for all levels reaching millions across the country. After leaving New York in early 2018, she is very happy to have found an Xtend Barre family in Boston where she can continue to teach her favorite format! Her Xtend classes are well rounded with a focus on cardio, strength, and mobility, ensuring her students feel comfortable and empowered in their own bodies.
Amanda’s fitness career has evolved from years of dance, gymnastics and soccer to competitive running in college (Syracuse University) and most recently, Pilates, Barre, Spin, and Xtend! She received her Pilates Mat certification in early 2018 and naturally fell in love with the Xtend workout. She loves that even after years away from dance, she’s able to reconnect with the dancer within and feel strong, powerful and confident at the Barre! Come Xtend with her!
