South African born Cat trained at The Australian Ballet School and enjoyed an 11 year dance career with The Australian Ballet and Royal New Zealand Ballet. She is a certified Pilates mat and equipment instructor, New Zealand’s only Melt Method instructor and NZ’s Xtend Barre Instructor Trainer. Introduced to Xtend Barre in early 2013, Cat found Xtend Barre to be graceful, choreographically interesting, challenging and accessible to all members of the population. Cat loves observing the positive improvements that Xtend Barre has on her clients’ bodies and minds.
Jessie has a performance background in dance and acting and uses these skills in her classes to motivate and inspire. Jessie is a Polestar certified Mat instructor and loves to watch clients discover feeling their best through meditative breath and a deeper understanding of their biology. Jessie has a BA in Religious Studies and creative writing and is currently studying jewellery design.
A bunhead of some 34 years, Bea’s passion for dance and performing began as a young child. After graduating from The National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art in 2001, she spent many years working as a freelance performer, teacher and director. Bea came to Cat’s Pilates class in 2012 having suffered from her fifth prolapse disc. Before long, the changes in her body were so significant, she knew this was what she needed to do with her life. She is proud to be New Zealand’s first instructor certified to teach Xtend Barre Stick, Xtend Suspend, Circuit 7, Fit Ball and Roll and Release. Bea qualified as a Comprehensive Pilates Instructor through Hearts and Bones in 2015. In 2016 she began her journey into defying gravity with AntiGravity Fitness and she’s excited to share this with Wellington.
Sasha found Xtend Barre in 2013, looking for something to help balance her body and mind while working in the film industry. Instantly hooked, Xtend barre had awoken an old love of dance and refocused Sasha to make a change in career and lifestyle.
The combination of cardio, burn and variety with a strong focus on form and safety is what she believes makes this workout so special and effective.
The transformation and connectedness in mind and body in her clients is a daily inspiration, and seeing people leave the studio buzzing with energy and smiles is the greatest job perk of all.
Her motivation in teaching is that a workout should be a challenge but also a victory, and even better if you can have a laugh or a smile along the way!
Liz has been an Xtend Barre instructor since 2014. Her emphasis has always been on cross-training; she also focuses on Circuit, Stick classes and TRX and loves helping people push themselves. Liz also is a performer with a BA Hons in Theatre, enjoys singing, screen and stage acting and also helps people embody themselves more effectively by practicing as a Craniosacral Therapist.
Hannah has loved dance from a young age and throughout her childhood attended Ballet and Jazz classes but stopped as a teenager. As a regular gym goer Hannah became bored of repetitive workouts and struggled with motivation. She discovered Xtend Barre in early 2014 and was hooked instantly. Hannah believes Xtend Barre is a fun and functional alternative to exercise and enjoys how energised classes make her feel. Hannah looks forward to inspiring and challenging new clients and to see the positive results they experience within their own bodies’
Emily is a born and bred Wellingtonian with a passion for the arts, travel and snowboarding. As a teenager, Emily attended the Queensland Dance School of Excellence but due to injury had to stop dancing. After hearing about Xtend Barre through a friend, Emily was hooked after her first class. She loved the feeling of being back at the barre in an encouraging and supportive atmosphere – not to mention rediscovering so many muscles that had been neglected for so long. Emily loves seeing clients gain strength and confidence in class and enjoys making clients sweat!
Maddi, a blonde, curly-haired Aussie, has been a keen dancer since the age of 9. After completing her Education and Human Movement double degree in 2008, she went on to achieve a Certificate IV in Dance Performance. It was during this time that Maddi discovered her passion for Yoga. She immediately went on to complete her 285-hr Vinyasa Flow teacher training. She also undertook Rainbow Kids teacher training to enable her to introduce Yoga into schools, particularly into the Dance and Health curriculum. After teaching Physical Education and Dance in schools around Adelaide, Maddi moved to Wellington in April 2016 (and is loving it!). It was here that she discovered Xtend Barre and the challenging workout it offers. Within a month of participating in classes, she completed her Xtend Barre, Stick and TRX instructor training. Maddi loves inspiring and challenging her clients to enhance their wellbeing.
Following years as a professional dancer, Emma’s passion and spirit remain prevalent in her teaching. The classical technique and movement needed for Xtend Barre are given a modern twist with the motivation and uplifting atmosphere Xtend creates, ensuring hard work and fun go hand-in-hand. Having taught clientele from all walks of life, she aims for development from everyone at their own pace whilst pushing them to achieve their full potential. Emma is thrilled to celebrate the achievements of her students alongside them and watch their hard work pay off.
Anna believes building awareness through movement can facilitate positive change in our life. With a long-standing passion for health and well-being Anna started teaching movement classes in her early twenties. Through her varied life experiences whether it be as a yacht chef, running a small business, surfing Costa Rica, practicing Qi Gong or working a corporate job, Anna has a great awareness of what your body needs to move and be well. Warm, inspiring and passionate about Pilates you will love how Anna will bring out the best in your body during her fun yet challenging classes. She is Pilates Method Certified, with her passion for movement and travel having seen her train and teach in the Americas and Europe with contemporaries from the schools of Julian Littleford, Alan Herdman and Peak Pilates.
